How to Grow Cherry Belle Radishes from Seed

Direct sow radish seeds outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Because radish taproots develop rapidly, direct sowing is strongly recommended over indoor transplanting.

Choose a location with full sun and loose, well-drained soil free of stones or heavy clay. Sow seeds approximately 13 mm (1/2 inch) deep, spaced 1–2 cm (1/2 inch) apart in rows spaced 20–30 cm (8–12 inches) apart.

Thin seedlings when plants reach 2–5 cm (1–2 inches) tall to a final spacing of 5 cm (2 inches) apart to allow roots room to swell into perfectly round globes.

Water consistently and evenly to encourage rapid, uninterrupted growth. Harvest promptly around 25 days when roots reach 2.5 cm (1 inch) in diameter to prevent roots from becoming woody or pithy.

Growing Radishes in Canada

Cherry Belle radishes are exceptionally well-suited to Canadian climates, excelling in early spring and late summer to autumn planting windows across all provinces. Their ultra-fast turnaround makes them ideal for filling empty garden spaces or planting between slower-maturing crops like tomatoes and peppers.

Maintain steady soil moisture during hot or dry spells to prevent excessive spice and keep roots tender.
