How to Grow Red Cherry Peppers from Seed

Start Red Cherry Pepper seeds indoors approximately 6–8 weeks before your last expected spring frost. Sow seeds about 6 mm (¼ inch) deep in a quality seed-starting mix and keep warm and consistently moist until germination.

Provide seedlings with plenty of bright light once they emerge. Before planting outdoors or moving plants to permanent pots, gradually harden off the seedlings. Transplant or move outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and outdoor conditions have warmed up completely.

Choose a location with full sun and fertile, well-drained soil or premium potting mix. Peppers thrive in warmth and sunshine.

Water consistently, particularly during hot summer days and fruit development, while avoiding prolonged waterlogged conditions.

Growing Red Cherry Peppers in Canada

Peppers love warmth and require a long growing season, so Canadian gardeners will get the best results by starting seeds indoors well ahead of the last frost.

Avoid transplanting outdoors too early. Pepper plants are sensitive to cold and perform best once both the soil and nighttime temperatures have thoroughly warmed.
